Danbury Police say they received a report of a burglar alarm at 50 Shelter Rock Lane on Monday, Sept. 2 around 5 p.m.
Upon arrival, police say they enlisted the help of the fire department after observing smoke coming from the building, which was determined to be C & S Auto & Truck Repair.
A second alarm was struck, prompting fire crews to bring in additional resources due to the size and occupancy of the building, according to police.
Fire crews successfully gained access to the building and combated the blaze using multiple handlines, police say.
A large amount of smoke and carbon monoxide remained within the entire building, which officials say prompted the need for additional ventilation time.
Eversource was also requested to the scene to secure the power and gas feeds to the building, police say.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and is currently being investigated by the Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office, police say.
Fire crews finished clearing the scene by 7:30 p.m. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported, police say.
